Living in the Côte d’Azur, a trip to the Oceanographic Museum is a given. I struggle to write this because I wasn’t really looking forward to the trip. As much as it pains me to see whales, seals and dolphins in captivity, I also love seeing whales, seals and dolphins. So, I end up going to aquariums that feature these animated creatures, while at the same time telling my kids that it’s not fair to keep them in captivity. I also explain that many of the creatures have been saved from imminent death – so it’s not so bad, etc.
So, I’ll admit, I’m not that excited about going to see fish in big aquariums. layered with with some history.
But – it was amazing. The presentation of sea life was vivid and educational. Certain types of sea life don’t get as much attention as they should and I believe the curators of the Oceanographic Museum are well aware of this fact and aim to provide every species spotlight they deserve.

And the Building!
Driving there? Look out for Google driving you down restricted roads!
I’ve come to know Monaco quite well after my one day trip, it tends to happen after you drive in circles for 45 minutes. It should be noted that Monaco is amazing, the tunnels are long, twisty and range from super modern to coal-mining rustic. But, with all the connecting tunnels, it’s easy to get lost – especially if you use Google maps that doesn’t recognize restricted roads.
I drove by this policeman about 10 times not realizing it WAS the road Google was trying to send me down.
Follow signs to Parking, not the museum. Museum Parking, (Google Maps)
