Halloween Party

What better way to meet the families in a new school than to host a party (for kids and adults!).  In France, they don’t really celebrate Halloween – so this was the perfect opportunity to bring a little Canada to our new community.

Games

Pumpkin carving

I bought out the stores supply of pumpkin carving kits, and had to settle for French pumpkins – making for a much trickier craft than in Canada.

Capture the pitchfork (Capture the flag)

Zombie Hunt (Manthunt)

Spooky Box-oh-Prizes

Put all the prizes in a box, fill with packing materials, punch a hole in the box and let the kids feel around for their prize!

Piñata

This is always a hit – especially if you have a teen helper who keeps it exciting.  I stuffed the piñata with 20 individual bags of goodies so that when it finally broke, that one kid didn’t get 1/2 the loot.  Another tip is to use a crappy bat – something hollow.  Otherwise all the kids won’t get a chance to swing.

Ghost Tag (Freeze Tag)

Halloween Dance Party

Decoration

During our spare time in the days leading up to the party, Téa and I had fun setting up the rec room.

I kept it simple, invited the kids and invited the parents to stay or take off and get some quality kid-free time.  About 75% of the parents stayed.
