So – why move to France – for the skiing of course! We were lucky enough to have family friends visit for a week-long ski vacation after Christmas. We rented a chalet via VRBO, it checked all the boxes, hot tub, loads of rooms and bathrooms, big chill out area and walk to a lift.

After a long day skiing in the alps, it was hard to pass up a hot tub, although showering beforehand and racing through the snowy trail, soaking and 1/2 naked, was not for the faint of heart.

This room was fantastic, living area, huge TV, balcony, reading nook and games table. (Property # 4251345ha)
We used Local CHX to rent our skis. Talk about a friendly bunch of people. They came to our chalet, outfitted everyone and we were ready to ski the next day.

So – here’s the thing about staying in La Praz, the “lift” that you can walk to is a cable car. What is a cable car? Well – I found out it’s a cab, on a cable, that, unlike a gondola, only goes up the mountain when another cable car goes down the mountain. So, a cable car comes about every 20 minutes, and holds about 60 people, and the line was about 300 people.

I’ve chosen one of the recordings randomly, oh, it looks like it’s the one where I beat Mark. He’s not trying, but maybe that’s because he knew he wouldn’t win!
Chamonix is spectacular and I feel privileged to have skied there! So, with that in mind, on a separate post, I will discuss the tunnel…
