When in France, you must take advantage of all that there is to see and do. But, with kids it proves tricky at times, this is why girls trips (and boys trips) are essential. Thanks to the uber-planning efforts of our friend Niahm (Neeve), five of us were treated to a night away in gods country (aka wine country). Our first stop was Chateau D’Escalans, which, to everyone who lives outside of France is known as the Whispering Angel Winery.
We were treated with a tour of the winery where they produce 7 million bottles of Whispering Angel (70% goes to the USA market). Our fantastic tour guide Allan was informative and lovely. One thing to note: in France, employees greet each other with a level of affection that only I share with loved ones (that I haven’t seen in months/years)…so after a double kiss and quick chat with the people they see every single day, our tour resumed. I know the French get a bit of slag for their workers rights protests, but I have to say, most people I meet who work in France genuinely love their job and are not just punching the clock. It was a treat to get a behind-the-scenes look at Chateau D’Escalans where you sense the staff are like family to each other.
Clos Des Roses Domain

Committed to the Rosé all Day theme, after our wine tour we headed over to the Clos Des Roses Vineyard and hotel. We thought a picnic in the vineyard would be just the thing to extend our Rosé all Day theme. Clos Des Roses is a much smaller vineyard, but very well suited for big gatherings and events. Art is peppered throughout the estate and they have a church, event room, restaurant, pool, hotel and wine tasting area.
The hotel was amazing; quaint rooms with big soaker tubs, french windows, exposed brick and big cozy beds. Probably a better fit for a date weekend honestly, but we all enjoyed our rooms and the continuation of our Rosé theme.
Now, back to the cover shot for this post…I think the artistry is quite remarkable, but some people, well, they make fun of the artistic process by taking photos of the artist whilst they work….feels mean…

And, just in case we look a bit too tame…
